BILM Research & Grants
BILM is committed to supporting high-quality research, education and scholarship in longevity medicine. Through our grants and awards programme, we aim to encourage the next generation of clinicians, academics and medical students to contribute to the evidence base for healthy longevity.

Current Opportunities:
Medical Student Longevity Essay Prize
BILM invites medical students to submit essays on topics relating to longevity medicine, preventive medicine or healthspan.
The best essay will receive:
An essay prize.
Waiver of APC fees for publication in the British Journal of Longevity Medicine, where applicable.
This award is intended to encourage early academic interest in longevity medicine and to recognise original thinking, critical appraisal and clarity of argument.
Open to medical students only.
Essay must be original and unpublished.
Topic must relate to longevity medicine, preventive medicine, regenerative medicine or healthspan.
Submissions must meet the stated word limit of 2500 words and formatting requirements.
Entries must be submitted by the deadline.
Medical Longevity Education Prize
BILM is also offering a Medical Longevity Education Prize to support learning and engagement in the field.
Award value: £250
This prize is designed to recognise educational excellence and encourage deeper engagement with longevity medicine, whether through teaching, reflective work, academic writing or related educational contributions.
Open to medical students and doctors only.
To apply, please submit:
A short educational essay, article or reflective piece on a topic related to longevity medicine education.
Your full name, course and year of study, and institution.
A title for your submission.
A brief summary of why your piece is relevant to longevity medicine education.
Confirmation that the work is original, unpublished and entirely your own.
Your submission in the required word limit and file format.
Any references or supporting citations used in the piece.
A strong submission might focus on:
How longevity medicine should be taught to medical students or junior doctors.
What gaps exist in current medical education around healthspan, prevention or ageing.
How longevity medicine can be integrated into undergraduate or postgraduate training.
