Fellow (FBILM)
Fellowship recognises doctors and suitably qualified clinicians who have made a meaningful contribution to longevity medicine. There are two routes: Fellowship by Examination, for GMC-registered doctors who pass the BILM Fellowship Examination and meet the membership requirements; and Fellowship by Distinction, an honorary award recognising significant, sustained contributions through clinical leadership, research, education, service development or guideline work. Fellows enjoy all Member Grade benefits and retain their Fellowship and FBILM post-nominals with no ongoing fee.

Founding
members
To mark the commencement of the new membership tiers available for BILM, the first 50 eligible doctors to register for ‘Member’ grade membership, as ‘Founding Members’ to the institution, will get their membership fee free for the first year. That includes access to BILM’s complete CPD programme as it completes and any APC fees waived for publishing in the British Journal of Longevity Medicine (BJLM).
How does it work?
Once your membership is checked and processed, we’ll email you a login for the CPD modules. When you’re ready to publish in BJLM, email us and we’ll waive your APC. For future BILM conferences, contact us before you book so we can apply your discount. You can reach us at contact@bilm.org.uk.
Common questions
Find your answers or get in touch.
Which grade should I choose?
Associate is for medical students. Member is for GMC-eligible doctors. Fellowship is awarded by examination or by distinction, not bought, and comes with all the Member benefits.
How do I get into the CPD modules?
Once your membership is confirmed, we’ll email you a login. You can work through the modules at your own pace and should be able to use your login to revisit and redownload certificates of any modules you have already completed.
Can I use the modules in my appraisal?
Yes. The modules are designed to support your CPD record, portfolio and appraisal.
How does the APC waiver work?
Email us when you submit your paper to BJLM and we’ll waive the article processing charge. Your work still goes through full peer review.
What is BJLM?
The British Journal of Longevity Medicine is BILM’s peer-reviewed journal for research and clinical practice in the field.
How do I claim my conference discount?
When registration opens for a future BILM conference, get in touch before you book and we’ll sort it out with you.
I’m a medical student or trainee about to get GMC registered. Can I move up to Member?
Yes. Once you’re GMC-registered, let us know and we’ll upgrade you to Member for the rest of your membership year at no extra cost. After that, you’ll renew at the Member rate.
How do I become a Fellow (FBILM)?
Doctors who are registered with the GMC can sit the BILM Fellowship Examination. Fellowship by Distinction is considered on merit, and you can recommend someone through the Fellowship page.
Do Fellows pay a membership fee?
No. Fellowship carries no annual fee, whether it’s earned by examination or awarded by distinction. Fellows also receive all the benefits of the Member grade.
